SUMMARY:Closed for Veterans Day
DESCRIPTION:The library will be closed Monday\, November 11th\, in observance and celebration of all those that have served in the US military. \nVeterans Day\, observed annually on November 11\, is a tribute to military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Not to be confused with Memorial Day\, which honors those who died while in service\, Veterans Day honors all military veterans\, including those still with us \nVeterans Day\, originally celebrated as Armistice Day\, was first issued on November 11\, 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson a year after the end of World War I. The purpose of Armistice day was to honor the fallen soldiers of The Great War for their sacrifice and bravery. 7 years later in 1926\, Congress adopted a resolution requesting President Coolidge issue annual proclamations on November 11\, making Armistice Day a legal holiday. \nIn 1945\, World War II veteran Raymond Weeks had the idea to expand Armistice Day to celebrate all veterans rather than just the ones who died in World War I.

SUMMARY:Friday Film Club: Big Night
DESCRIPTION:“Big Night” is one of the great food movies\, and yet it is so much more. It is about food not as a subject but as a language–the language by which one can speak to gods\, can create\, can seduce\, can aspire to perfection. There is a moment in the movie when a timpano is sliced open\, and the audience sighs with simple delight. \nThe movie exists in the real world\, where you can go broke selling great food. It tells the story of two brothers\, recent immigrants to America\, who run a restaurant named Paradise. The older brother\, named Primo (Tony Shalhoub)\, is a genius as a chef. The younger brother\, named Secondo (Stanley Tucci)\, knows it. – Roger Ebert \nFilms are shown Friday Afternoon at 1 PM in our upstairs theater for adults 18 & up.\nHot Tea\, Pastries & Popcorn served and discussion after all movies. \n  \nFor November we are all about being Thankful for Food & Drink.\nWe travel to Wine Country in Northern California and hope all the vineyards stay safe from fires.\nWe then go into the main course with the Big Night\, and get ready for our Thanksgiving Feasts with Julie & Julia! \n  \nWE are CLOSED for Thanksgiving Holiday on Thursday\, November 28\, and Friday\, November 29.
