Welcome to Youth Services!
Children:
The children’s room is a welcoming space on the main floor and houses our children’s collection as well as a selection of toys, a puppet stage, and comfortable seating for caregivers. On the second floor, we do most of our programs in the large conference room.
Baby & Toddler Story Time is held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:15 or 11am most weeks. Just drop in for stories, music, dancing, and puppets! We don’t sit for more than a few minutes at a time, but if a little one needs to get out more energy, there is a large area behind our story time area for kids to get the wiggles out. Most children who attend are between 6 months and 3 years, but feel free to bring younger or older kids.
Pre-Walker Baby Time is held many Thursday mornings at 11:15am. We read a story, do lots of bounce rhymes, shake egg shakers, and sing! This is followed by free time for babies to play and caregivers to chat.
PAWS for Reading is held the second and fourth Tuesdays most weeks at 4:15pm in the children’s room. You register for your child to read to a specially trained therapy dog! This helps kids with reading confidence, or confidence around dogs.
Friday Fun: We have an assortment of music and other presenters for young children on many Friday mornings, usually at 10:15am. When there’s no presenter, we often have a free toy play time or other special program. If there is a presenter, we ask for registration.
Families:

Teens:
We host teen volunteers largely during the summer, but also have some opportunities during the school year. These are open for youth ages 11-17. If an 18-year-old high school student wishes to volunteer, they must get volunteer clearances through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania https://www.pa.gov/agencies/dhs/resources/keep-kids-safe/child-abuse-clearances
